Jerry Staudenraus

Born with a pen in hand and a heart filled with verse, I, Jerry Staudenraus, have journeyed through life embracing the beauty and power of poetry. My poetic odyssey culminated in the creation of “Moonbeams and Poetry: For Those Whose Ears Are Pricked and Tongues That Are Long-Drawn,” an anthology that encapsulates my soul’s whispers and dreams.

My early days were marked by a love for words and a curiosity for life’s mysteries. After earning a BA degree from Central Washington University, where I honed my craft amidst the serene landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, I embarked on a career journey that led me through the corridors of the U.S. Army. I found solace in the rhythm of verse, capturing moments of life’s beauty and complexity in poetic form After my enlistment period (3 years) was up, I moved to Washington State.. Now, I am retired from a long life of work, luck and happenstances.

The genesis of “Moonbeams and Poetry” dates back to the early 1970s, where each poem became a testament to my experiences, reflections, and aspirations. With twenty-nine meticulously crafted poems, adorned with illustrations that mirror my vision, this anthology is a tribute to the power of language to stir hearts and ignite minds.

Receiving the prestigious Pinnacle Book Achievement Award was a humbling validation of my lifelong dedication to the art of poetry. Through this collection, I invite readers on a journey through varied landscapes of emotion, inviting them to contemplate, reminisce, and discover the echoes of their own stories within my words.

As one Amazon reviewer aptly expressed, “Jerry Staudenraus’ ‘Moonbeams and Poetry’ is a beautiful, short, and sweet collection that resonates across ages and backgrounds. Each poem is a poignant narrative, weaving tales that linger in the heart long after the final stanza.”

In retirement, I continue to find joy in crafting verse, believing that poetry is a bridge that connects souls and transcends barriers. With gratitude for the readers who have embraced my work, I look forward to penning new chapters of inspiration and insight, guided by the ever-present muse that resides within every line of verse.
